Former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans told UFC Tonight Wednesday night that he has heard undefeated heavyweight and former two-time Olympic wrestler Daniel Cormier could be his next opponent. Evans is coming off a first round TKO win over Chael Sonnen at UFC 167.
Cormier last fought and won with a dominant unanimous decision win over Roy Nelson at UFC 166. Cormier has said that his next fight will be at light heavyweight.
The wrestler would likely be next in line for a heavyweight title shot but is teammates and friends with UFC heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez. Cormier has already begun losing weight, weighing in for his Nelson fight at an all-time low of 224 pounds.
Evans believes that Cormier will be able to make the 205 pound light heavyweight limit just fine. "I think so," he said.
"I think he can diet down, and I think he’s a different athlete than he was when he was wrestling for the Olympics. I think he’s a little bit more disciplined now.”
