No arena in the U.K. could hold a Bisping - Silva megafight

Michael Bisping's star is rising quickly amongst British sports fans. The nation has some of the best known soccer stars in the world and some super popular boxers, yet the BBC recently named 'The Count' the 12th most popular athlete in the U.K. That's pretty amazing since mixed martial arts is in its infancy as a British spectator sport.

Now the British fans want to see Bisping get a title shot against Anderson Silva. Gareth Davies who covers MMA for The Telegraph thinks a fight of that magnitude could draw over 30,000. You may scoff but recent fights with Joe Calzaghe and Ricky Hatton both drew over 35,000 in soccer stadiums.

Davies caught up with Bisping for this quick video interview where the victor says it didn't come easy. He had to fight wisely and not engage in an all-out throwdown with the brawler Leben.

Make sure you check out Davies' story. He gives a very good technical breakdown of how Bisping stymied the hard charging Leben. Watch a jovial Leben in the post-fight say that Bisping has the potential to be a champion some day.

Would UFC roll the dice on placing a Bisping fight at a stadium or is Davies out of his mind? The two big Calzaghe fights were held at Millenium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Hatton packed in 50,000 for a fight at Manchester Stadium.
