Newbie Gracie submits veteran Randleman at Strikeforce

Roger Gracie made quite an entrance into Strikeforce at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis tonight, submitting Kevin Randleman in the second round at Heavy Artillery.

In the first round, Randleman stayed out of danger by staying on his feet. When Gracie tried to take it to the ground, Randleman spun out and brought it back to their feet. Near the end of the round, Gracie finally threw a punch, and Randleman answered with three.

Randleman, whose right knee had a brace on it, tried for a takedown in the second round but Gracie answered with a series of knees. One of those knees knocked Randleman to the ground. and then tried for an arm triangle that was unsuccessful. Gracie spun around to try a rear naked choke that was succesful, forcing Randleman to tap out at 4:10 in the second round.

Randleman, once the UFC heavy weight champ and a star in the Pride Fighting Championships, now has suffered three losses in a row. A member of MMA's first family, Roger was fighting in just his third bout.
