Muhammed Lawal happy to see Bjorn Rebney leave Bellator

The few Bellator fighters Cagewriter has spoken with since the promotion announced founder and CEO Bjorn Rebney was out and former Strikeforce boss Scott Coker was in, had measured words to say about their old and new bosses. Most fighters, like most workers in any field, simply want to do their work and get ahead, and aren't too keen on making waves.

As such, the typical response we've gotten to questions about Bjorn's exit and Bellator's future were muted on Rebney and cautiously optimistic about the direction Coker and his matchmaker Rich Chou would take the organization. Bellator light heavyweight Mo Lawal isn't one for being soft-spoken, however.

The former top amateur wrestler recently spoke with Luke Thomas and did not attempt to hide how happy he was about Coker taking over the reigns at Bellator. "Now that things are under Scott Coker, things are going to change," Lawal said.

"I think it will be all-around improved."

The fighter went one step further, however, and pointedly called out Rebney as a liar. "I, personally, think he's a bitch," he said, of Rebney.

"If I had a chance to see him, I'd put them hands on him."

When asked why he felt so strongly against Rebney, Lawal cited alleged duplicity in the old Bellator boss. "He's deceptive, fake," he charged.

"Just, the stuff he says to me. He flew me out to meet me [and] it was just a bunch of bull, you know what I'm saying? It was a bunch of [expletive] he was spitting to me. He's a liar. He can't even make eye-contact with me, dog, he's a liar....When it came down to it, he was out of touch with...the MMA audience.

As for his own personal fighting future, Lawal fights Tom DeBlass next in early September. After that, he's game for a rematch against former UFC champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson.

Lawal lost to Jackson on the score cards but says he's over the defeat because he's certain he deserved to win. "Yeah, I've gotten over it because the people who scored it for him were the great minority," he said.

"He asked me for a rematch and I'm down to fight again."
