Johny Hendricks puts new UFC belt in vault

What would you do with a gold UFC championship belt? Put it on the mantle?

Keep it near your bed where you could gaze at it constantly? Well, new UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks isn't keeping his close - he's putting it away in a vault.

“I’m going to put it in a vault,” Hendricks today told MMAjunkie Radio earlier today.

“It’s going to be locked away.”

Having that shiny new bauble around might start to let Hendricks think he's done striving, and the new champ wants to stay hungry.

“I want to remember what it felt like to get it, and I want to feel what it feels like to get the next one,” he explained.

“I’m still 0-0. Yeah, I was able to do something great on Saturday, but realistically, I’ve got to turn right back around and do it again if I want to stay champ. I want to get back and see how my body is doing and start moving forward.”

With an attitude like that, it's little wonder that Hendricks has accomplished all that he has in his athletic career.
