According to a report from MMA Fighting, Johny Hendricks tore a bicep two weeks before his UFC 171 welterweight title main event against Robbie Lawler. Hendricks considered pulling out of the fight but fought on and, despite breaking his right shin in the first round, managed to secure a decision win and the 170 pound title belt in an all-time classic battle.

According to the report, Hendricks will have surgery on his right bicep Monday. If the surgery is a success, Hendricks' manager Ted Ehrhardt says that the fighter will be able to start physical therapy in four weeks.

That would be followed by four more weeks of rehab. All in all, if everything goes well for Hendricks, he could begin to train again in two months. The fractured shin, however, will reportedly demand a long recovery period. These pre-existing and early-developing injuries of Hendricks make his gutsy come-from-behind win all the more impressive. We wish the new champ a speedy and full recovery.
