Evans addresses 'worse than Tito' comments by Whitehead

He beat Chuck Liddell and Forrest Griffin in the span of three months and yet there's one question Rashad Evans has had to answer in every interview: What do you think of people calling you classless?

Evans showboated a bit during the win over Griffin at UFC 94 and he received rash of criticism on the web. One site actually suggested that he be penalized by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Fellow Ultimate Fighter alum Mike Whitehead poured gasoline on the fire by comparing Evans to Tito Ortiz saying that he's terrible for the sport. Evans has been consistent in saying he's unphased by the criticisim and told Cage Writer there may be an additional reason for Whitehead's anger:

"About three weeks before that I get a call from coach he says 'what do you think about Mike Whitehead coming to train with us Jackson's Gym? Well he wants to be part of the team, he's sick of it over at Couture's'. And now after the fight he says this."

Evans told Greg Jackson that he didn't feel comfortable with Whitehead joining the Albuquerque-based team because of Whitehead's strong relationship with Griffin. The current UFC light heavyweight champ said he has nothing against Whitehead and then paid him a back-handed compliment:

"Mike Whitehead is probably one of the toughest dudes you'll ever meet int he practice room. If he ever learns how to turn that practice room hero into a real fighter he'll be the truth."

Evans also reacts to being compared to Tito. "Sugar" responded well to Cage Writer mocking on his hip hop entrance into Georges St. Pierre's Montreal training camp during the Primetime reality show. He was also pushed to the edge during the interview when he was mocked on for being vertically challenged. There's some people questioning Evan's claim that he's 5-foot-11.
