Dustin Poirier: 'Conor McGregor needs his mouth shut'
According to Conor McGregor, highly-ranked UFC featherweight fighter Dustin Poirier isn't "impressive." Poirier himself, however, says McGregor is simply an immature, loud kid who needs to be humbled.
"This guy needs to get his ass whipped and his mouth shut," Poirier said recently of his UFC 178 opponent.
"I'm the guy to serve the humble pie."
Poirier may have bristled at McGregor's insults, but he isn't ungrateful for the attention the hype brings to their upcoming bout. If people want to see McGregor fight, that means that in this instance, they'll also be watching Poirier, and "Diamond" likes it that way.
"He's kind of like a Chael Sonnen," he said of McGregor.
"People are either watch to see him do what he says he's going to do or they're going to tune in to watch him get his ass whipped. Either way, they're going to be watching me fight and that's important."
