Two of the original Ultimate Fighter season 1 cast members, Stephan Bonnar and Forrest Griffin, were recently inducted into the UFC's Hall of Fame. The promotion has typically used their Fourth of July weekend show as an opportunity to make new inductions.
And, while UFC president Dana White has been tight-lipped about whether or not more inductions are to follow on the weekend of July 5th's UFC 175, he did recently list a bunch of fighters who he believes should be in the Hall of Fame. Sixteen fighters, to be specific.
In a report by Damon Martin, White is quoted as saying that the entire 16-man cast of TUF 1 should be inducted into the UFC's Hall of Fame because of the show's imact on the sport of MMA. Each and every fighter on that show, including Bonnar and Griffin, and the other two finalists, Diego Sanchez and Kenny Florian, played an important role in the explosive growth of MMA and the UFC, according to White.
"I think that's a must. I think that entire season should be inducted. Without a doubt that group of people are all game changers," he said.
"The whole cast should be [in the hall of fame]. Even the Canadian Jason Thacker. Without the group of people that we had and the way the synergy worked and the way things went down, that season really launched everything."
