After throwing a cheap shot and getting kicked out of the UFC for his actions, British fighter Paul Daley spoke with the The Daily Telegraph and issued a full mea culpa.

I’ve had a long flight home to consider my actions and regret the mistake I made on Saturday. I would like to apologise to the UFC and the Athletic Commission for what I’ve done as well as all the fans and sponsors that support me ... I would also like to offer my sincerest apologies to Josh Koscheck who did not deserve the cheap shot I threw. He did what he needed to do in order to win the fight and get the job done, and I foolishly reacted to the situation.

He goes on to say that this is not an excuse but an explanation for his actions, and that he is now on the long road back to earning the trust of the MMA community.

Daley is only 27, and is undoubtedly a rising talent and fun to watch. He made a mistake and the punishment given to him was fair. What would not be fair is if his entire MMA career was over for the one, dumb mistake.
