Corey Anderson took just over one minute to stop Matt Van Buren in the light heayweight finals of The Ultimate Fighter 19 Sunday night. Van Buren had the experience advantage heading into the finale bout against the Rockfod, IL fighter but never got off and ate heavy punch combinations straight away from his flat footed stance.
Van Buren stood tall and stuck his chin out and Anderson wasted little time finding it with his punches. The wrestler dropped Van Buren but the Alliance team member gamely stood back up, only to absorb more shots and get dropped again - this time for good.
The end came as Van Buren laid face down, on all fours, taking punch after punch from Anderson. The referee stepped in and Anderson was awarded the win and TUF 19 title.
The inexperienced Anderson was overcome with emotion afterwards, recounting how he promised his team and family that he wasn't going to come back home until he'd won the TUF 19 championship. "I told them and I'm coming back the champion," he said.
"it came out perfect. I'm very emotional right now. I want to cry right now but I can't on camera."
