Bethe Correia: 'Ronda Rousey isn't the best'

Today's pattern of UFC contenders trying to talk their way into title shots by trashing champions continues with Brazilian bantamweight Bethe Correia (9-0). The aggressive 135lber has already beaten two of champ Ronda Rousey's teammates, and has the "Rowdy" one in her sights, now.

"I already proved to the world that [Rousey's self-title and pro-wrestling inspired MMA stable) the Four Horsewomen are a big joke. I just need to conclude my work getting the number one, the leader," Correia recently said.

"I'm only waiting for the UFC to give me this chance so I can end this group once and for all and show who's the woman that came to stay and will be the only one to retire undefeated."

Rousey (10-0) has welcomed the fight, but UFC president Dana White says that number one contender Cat Zingano is next in line. Like Khabib Nurmagomedov, Correia may be trying to position herself as a replacement should anyone get injured in an already-planned title bout.

In any case, Correia says that Rousey has not proven herself to be the best female fighter in MMA (which is a pretty funny thing to say). "The only thing I recognize [about Rousey] as an athlete is what she did for women's MMA," Correia said.

"But even as the UFC champion she still hasn't proven she's the best woman fighter. She just proved she's the best Judo fighter in MMA. I will show I have a more complete, true MMA game."

Time will tell, perhaps. Do you think Correia would have a shot at beating Rousey?
