UFC on Fox 7 had knockouts, more knockouts, and even a proposal. But whose performance stood above the rest? With so many great performances, it was hard to pick just three.

No. 1 star -- Josh Thomson: After years in Strikeforce, Thomson was eager to prove that he belonged in the elite of the UFC's stacked lightweight division. He did that by TKOing Nate Diaz, which is the first time Diaz was knocked out in his career.

No. 2 star -- Matt Brown: If Dante Alighieri was alive and an MMA fan, he would add a 10th circle of hell -- facing Matt Brown. He was aggressive and relentless in his win over Jordan Mein. Even after body shots appeared to weaken him, Brown came back to win with a TKO in the second round. Brown is now hoping for a title shot. After five overwhelming wins, who can say he shouldn't get one?

No. 3 star -- Myles Jury: In his third UFC bout, Jury pasted Ramsey Nijem in the second round. He's yet to lose, and of his 12 wins,

Josh Thomson hugs UFC exec Joe Silva. (AP)UFC on Fox 7 was one of the best cards of the year. Of the 12 fights on the card, eight ended with a knockout or technical knockout. This made the decision for Knockout of the Night bonuses even more difficult for the UFC.

Since there were no submissions, they gave out two $50,000 knockout bonuses. One went Josh Thomson, who delivered the first knockout against Nate Diaz. It was Thomson's first fight in the UFC since 2004. He fought in Strikeforce for several years, and returned to the promotion after the parent company who owns the UFC bought and then folded Strikeforce.

The other $50,000 bonus went to Yoel Romero, who was making his UFC debut after fights in Strikeforce and a long career as an Olympic-level wrestler. In the first fight on the card, Romero knocked out Clifford Starks with a flying knee.

Fight of the Night bonuses of $50,000 each went to Matt Brown and Jordan Mein. Though their fight lasted just six minutes, every second of the bout was memorable. Brown started strong as he aggressively put Mein on his heels, but Mein appeared to wobble Brown with body shots. One minute into the second round, Brown notched the TKO win.

UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson won a very close decision over Gilbert Melendez at UFC on Fox 7. With the win, he held onto his gold championship belt, but right after the decision was read, another piece of jewelry was on his mind.

With the crowd in San Jose booing, Henderson's girlfriend, Maria Magana, was led into the Octagon. Henderson told UFC commentator Joe Rogan, "I gotta see about a girl real quick." He motioned to one of his cornermen, who pulled a small jewelry box out of his pocket and handed it to Henderson. The champ then dropped to one knee and popped the question.

"I love you. I'm not perfect. I never have been, but you make me happier every single day than any man has a right to be. I love you. Will you marry me?"

Magana answered yes, even as the crowd continued to boo. The post-fight proposal had to be approved by several parties including UFC president Dana White and Magana's father.

UFC on Fox 7 started out with a knockout, followed by a knockout and then a knockout. Before fans at the fights in San Jose had eaten lunch, the competition was already fierce for the Knockout of the Night.

It started with Yoel Romero, an Olympic wrestler who knocked out Clifford Starks with a flying knee 1:32 in the first round.

In trying times, sports can give us something to talk about that doesn't involve bombs and explosions and death tolls. If you don't want a diversion, no one will blame you, but if you do, the hot or not list from the week in MMA.

Hot -- Science: UFC president Dana White has been battling with Meniere's Disease, a disorder of the inner-ear that has wreaked havoc on his health. A surgery that was supposed to help didn't, but White tried a new therapy that he says has made a huge difference. White went to Germany and received platement-rich plasma therapy, after New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez told him to, of course.

Not -- Fans who take swings at fighters: OK, it was just one fan, but it was one fan too many. Taking a swing at Chael Sonnen or anyone else is the kind of thing that could raise security levels hinder the access fans have to their favorite fighters.

Has Gilbert Melendez been the best lightweight in the world all along? While he was the Strikeforce lightweight champion, Melendez's competition was thin. He put together an impressive win streak, but he also always wanted to get a shot at the UFC. Now, he has it with a bout against UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson. Will Melendez come away with the championship belt?

Where does Daniel Cormier rank among the best heavyweights? He knocked out Antonio Silva and beat Josh Barnett. In fact, Cormier has beaten every fighter put in front of him, putting together a record of 11-0. This will be his first time fighting in the UFC, taking on Frank Mir, who hasn't fought since he lost to Junior dos Santos in May of 2012. Will Cormier's unbeaten streak continue?

(Getty)Fans get unbelievable access to fighters at UFC events. During breaks between fights, fighters will walk around and take pictures and give autographs to whoever asks them. But sometimes that access can lead to problems, like when a fan takes a swing at a fighter.

At "The Ultimate Fighter" finale on Saturday, a Brazilian fan called Chael Sonnen over to the stands, and then threw a punch that didn't land. A security guard stepped in and dragged the fan away.

Sonnen took the incident in stride.

"It was very quick, like those things typically happen," Sonnen told MMAjunkie.com. "I was visiting with some fans, and a gentleman had started in on me. Ultimately, that's what it led to.

"I think a fan can do anything they want. I think they can heckle, a fan can boo, but they can't touch you. But the same thing goes for me. I can yell at a fan too, but you can't touch them. If you want to be a fan, you buy the ticket, and you can have any energy you want, whether it's positive or negative. And in this case it was negative, and he went a little too far."

A little tip for fans -- don't try to hit fighters. Don't hit anyone, really, but you definitely should not hit a professional fighter. Even if you don't think much of his fighting skill, he's still among the best fighters in the world. At best, you'll look like a fool. At worst? You'll end up knocked out.
