A report from TMZ says Ronda Rousey, the Strikeforce bantamweight champion, will be one of the first two women to fight in the Octagon. According to the report, Rousey will defend her title in the UFC in 2013.

Rousey has taken the fight world by storm since debuting as a pro in May of 2011. The 2008 Olympic bronze medalist in judo has six straight wins. All were first-round submissions. She has also reached levels of popularity only known to the most elite fighters. Rousey was on the cover of ESPN the Magazine's "Body Issue," and headlined two Strikeforce shows in 2012.

An opponent has not been named, but a rematch with Miesha Tate or a grudge match with Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos are both possibilities.

The other wrinkle to TMZ's report is that the Strikeforce show on Jan. 12 will be the promotion's last. As we mentioned Thursday, the January fights will have every male Strikeforce champion defend his belt, so it would be a fitting end to the promotion. With Rousey, one of their most bankable stars, headed to Strikeforce's sister company, there won't be many draws left.

    • (Getty)Strikeforce is back!

Well, they are with at least one show. When they canceled their second straight show in October, they promised a "stacked card." The idea was to make up for the two missed cards in September and November. Well, they have delivered.

MMA Junkie is reporting the fights are set for January 12 in Oklahoma City, where the ill-fated Nov. 3 event was supposed to happen. The line-up is:

-- Gilbert Melendez defending the lightweight belt against Pat Healy
-- Heavyweight grand prix winner Daniel Cormier taking on Dion Staring
-- Middleweight champ Luke Rockhold fighting Lorenz Larkin
-- Nate Marquardt's first defense of his welterweight belt against Tarec Saffiediene

Not bad, right? Every men's belt that has someone holding it will be defended. The big question is will this be Strikeforce's going away party, as they have struggled late in 2012. The promotion, owned by the same parent company as the UFC, would easily be folded into the UFC. However, they still have a contract

    • (Getty)The UFC heads to Macau for fights headlined by Rich Franklin vs. Cung Le. Here's what you need to know before you tune in bright and early on Saturday morning.

Does Rich Franklin have another big fight left in his tank? It's been six years since Franklin had the UFC championship belt around his waist. He isn't likely to make another run at the belt any time soon, but the 38-year-old can show if still is the kind of fighter who can thrill crowds.

Will fans get up to watch the fights? American sports fans aren't beyond waking up early for sports. It happens for the Olympics, for football, and for soccer. Fight fans have woken up fights in Japan for years. However, the UFC doesn't ask fans to wake up early, so these fights will show if fans are willing to get up early.

How the UFC has taken hold in Asia, outside Japan? The UFC did well in Japan in February, but that's a part of the world where mixed martial arts had already taken hold. In Macau, the fights are a short flight away from

UFC veteran Drew McFedries was stabbed over the weekend. He was released from the hospital after being stabbed in the side while working security at the Chorus Line, a gentlemen's club in Davenport, Iowa. Stabbing the security guard isn't very gentlemanly, but it is what Calvin Hammock allegedly did.

According to the Quad City Times, Hammock is charged with going armed with intent and willful injury causing bodily injury. Hammock allegedly left the Chorus Line, but was stopped by McFedries from coming back in. They got into a tussle, and that's when Hammock allegedly stabbed McFedries.

The good news is that McFedries is expected to fully recover. He hasn't fought since 2011, when he beat Garrett Olson in Pro Elite. His last UFC fight was a loss to Tomasz Drwal at UFC 103.

    • (Getty)Stephan Bonnar announced his retirement last week, but soon after, it was announced he tested positive for performance enhancing drugs for his loss to Anderson Silva. Dave Herman tested positive for marijuana metabolites for his UFC 153 loss to Antonio Rodrigo Noguiera.

Because the fights were held in Brazil, which has no regulatory commission, the fights were overseen by UFC vice president of regulatory affairs. He suspended Bonnar for a year, while Herman's punishment will be decided later this week and will involve some sort of treatment.

OK, but what's the point of such a suspension at this point? This was Bonnar's second time testing positive. The $5,000 fine and nine-month suspension he received last time didn't deter him from taking banned substances again. Now, he has to serve a suspension while retired. How does this stop him from using again if he does come back -- as so many fighters do -- or keep other fighters from using?

For Herman, Ratner did say marijuana is treated differently than performance enhancers:

    • Will he keep that shiny, new belt? (Getty)Chicago will host its first UFC title fight since UFC 90. On "UFC Insider," it was reported flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson will defend his belt for the first time at UFC on Fox 6 on Jan. 26. He'll fight John Dodson at the United Center.

Johnson's last fight was a five-round win over Joseph Benavidez. He'll take on Dodson, a Jackson's MMA-trained winner of "The Ultimate Fighter."

Joining them on the card will be Donald Cerrone and Anthony Pettis. After a long layoff due to surgery and illness, Pettis will fight close to home. The United Center is just 95 miles from Pettis' training home in Milwaukee.

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson also says that he is on the card, though that has not been confirmed:

    • (Getty)Action movie star and all-around ... interesting guy Steven Seagal has supported Anderson Silva several times in the UFC middleweight champion's career. He reportedly taught him the kick Silva used to knock out Vitor Belfort. Now, Silva will get a chance to return the favor. He told Globo that he will have a role in Seagal's next film.

"I'm going to Los Angeles to record a movie with Steven Seagal. I'm very excited about this new phase. I'm preparing," Silva said.

The Internet Movie Database doesn't have Seagal in the production stages of any movies, so we don't know exactly which film Silva and Seagal are working on. A rumor circulated in April that Seagal would be in the next sequel to "Expendables," the movie that starred Randy Couture and Jean-Claude Van Damme.

But Silva already has plenty of training in acting. He is a commercial king, and starred in "Never Surrender," the 2009 film that also had Georges St-Pierre and B.J. Penn in it. It's still shocking that "Never Surrender" was

    • (Getty)Despite a long, winning career with the UFC, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson has had a rough relationship with the promotion recently. In an interview he did with Middle Easy (transcribed by Bloody Elbow) Jackson said the UFC hasn't compensated him well enough for his loss of privacy.

Leaving the UFC would make me happy. I don't think there's anything they can do to fix it. I don't think they're even willing to fix it. I'm not upset with them. The UFC is a great organization, they've done a lot of great, positive things for the sport. It's mainstream now. I can't walk anywhere without people wanting a picture or attention or talking or anything. That's good, that's what people like. I just feel like...honestly, I just wish I could be compensated a little bit more for the privacy that I gave up. People don't understand that. I traded my privacy and my kids' privacy for...the living that I'm making now which is...Football players and basketball players these days, they're making MILLIONS!

Now, what's odd about this statement is not that Jackson wants more money. Who doesn't want to be paid more for their job? But Jackson's popularity is not solely due to the UFC. He was a beloved fighter with Pride before fighting with the UFC. He has been in several movies. He starred in "The A-Team," a movie that made $177 million at the box office internationally. He does autograph signings, and has appeared on talk shows and on the WWE Raw show.

[Related: Bruce Lee's impact on MMA felt decades after his death]

If privacy was the concern, Jackson could have kept a lower profile. He didn't. He chose to go into movies and fulfill its publicity requirements. He chose to sign on with sponsors who required he make appearances. He chooses to tweet pictures of him and his family. If privacy was his biggest concern, he could have just been a fighter.

His concerns are about money, and you know what? That's OK. A lot of people grumble about how much they are paid. It makes Jackson more like a regular guy. Just don't couch it in lost privacy.
