• Dustin Poirier: 'Conor McGregor needs his mouth shut'

    According to Conor McGregor, highly-ranked UFC featherweight fighter Dustin Poirier isn't "impressive."Poirier himself, however, says McGregor is simply an immature, loud kid who needs to be humbled.

    "This guy needs to get his ass whipped and his mouth shut," Poirier said recently of his UFC 178 opponent.

    "I'm the guy to serve the humble pie."

    Poirier may have bristled at McGregor's insults, but he isn't ungrateful for the attention the hype brings to their upcoming bout. If people want to see McGregor fight, that means that in this instance, they'll also be watching Poirier, and "Diamond" likes it that way.

  • WSOF to begin ppv events, and fighter revenue sharing, in 2015

    Beginning in the second half of 2015, MMA promotion World Series of Fighting (WSOF) will enter the pay per view (ppv) market. Once they do enter the ppv game, WSOF says it will share 50% of all net revenue from live pay per view telecasts with the fighters on said cards.

    At present, the only consistent presence in MMA pay per view is the sport's leading promotion, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Up to this point, WSOF events have been been broadcasted solely on NBC networks.

For starters, Demetrious Johnson will defend his 125 pound championship against Chris Cariaso, Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier will face off in a lightweight grudge match and Donald "Cowboy" Cerronewill welcome Eddie Alvarez to the UFC.
