Chuck Liddell still wants to knock someone out and we know Jay Glazer is the master of the perfect punch. This morning, Bryant Gumbel was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Deadspin called the photo "cutesy," so we'll go with that. Apparently, HBO "Real Sports" spoke with Glazer and Liddell for an upcoming piece.

The photo is still better than the recent shot of Glazer with blond matinee idol Clay Matthews.

    • Our friends at Cage Potato have come up with some great shirts in the past, but this one may be my favorite. They worked with illustrator Derek Eads to come up with a shirt that shows off some of MMA's best hairstyles.

MMAHairstyles_grayshirtFrom Roy Nelson's mullet to Fedor Emelianenko and his ice cream cones, this shirt captures many of MMA's best looks. It can be yours for just $22. You'll be the coolest kid on the MMA block.

The victories by Tito Ortiz and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira produced high drama at UFC 132 and UFC 134, respectively.

Without a win over Ryan Bader, Ortiz was on his way out of the UFC. A a bad loss by Nogueira against Brendan Schaub, would've inevitably prompted retirement talk. They live another day.

Nothing in the fall will match the stories of Tito and Big Nog, but there are plenty of showcase fights where veterans need to avoid a bad loss to ensure their future with the UFC. The sport is evolving so quickly, a veteran fighter can go from a UFC contender to the minor leagues or even retirement in just a few fights.

The fall slate is filled with older fighters who are under the gun.

Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic vs. Roy Nelson - UFC 137

There's some pressure on Nelson, but this is really about Cro Cop. Following a loss at UFC 128, Dana White said it was time for the legendary heavyweight to walk away. Because of contractual obligations to the 36-year-old, the promotion had to give him

    • If the thousands of screaming Brazilian fans at HSBC Arena didn't convince you of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira's popularity in Brazil, this backstage video of Nogueira's friends and teammates celebrating after his win will.

Filmed by Gesias "J.Z." Cavalcante, it shows the room erupt at Nogueira's win, and the several men grow emotional as the noise dies down. Anderson Silva, who was less than an hour from his own big win, grew emotional from seeing his friend win.

This video reminds us that all the talk that fighters give to the team in MMA is not lip-service. Nogueira's win didn't just belong to him, but to everyone who helped him -- or he helped -- along the way.

    • Jon Jones carries himself in a certain manner and the last thing he wants to be called is less than trustworthy or a cheater. That's what he is according to the bombshell dropped by his UFC 135 opponent Quinton Jackson. "Rampage" told Yahoo! Sports' Kevin Iole that he suspects Team Jones has a spy in Jackson's camp.

      Jones responded Tuesday on Twitter:

BonesJonestweetMERGEJackson first became suspicious following his UFC 114 fight against Rashad Evans. Evans employed the odd tactic of repeatedly punching Jackson in the knee. It was same knee that Jackson had injured in camp, yet it never went public.

Then Jackson got a recent tip from a Twitter follower that there was a spy in his camp so the veteran fighter tried a little experiment last week. He spread it around the camp that he'd injured his hand. A few hours later, Jackson claims he got a call from UFC matchmaker Joe Silva to find out about the injury. Said Jackson:

"How did he know about my hand injury that fast? It wasn't on the Internet, and yet he

    • Where oh where has Mike Swick gone? The former middleweight and welterweight title contender has endured an unthinkable battle over the last 16 months against injuries and bad breaks. That included missing out on last weekend's UFC journey to Brazil. Swick was booked to fight Erick Silva at UFC 134, but blew out his knee. Surprisingly, the 32-year-old is still up beat about his fighting future.

A rough month for the mixed martial arts world just witnessed another sad passing. Jake Shields' father Jack passed away on Monday.

"lost my father manager and one of my best friends today!! R.I.P jack you will be greatly missed and loved by many" — Jake Shields

Jack, 67, was a huge part of Jake's rise over the years. At age 23, the fighter was on the verge of breaking through, but a lack of solid management was holding him back. His father had a little experience working in the music promotion business so he offered to help out.

"Jake asked me to manage him after that and I said, 'I'm sure there's someone down there who knows the business a lot better than I do. I'm all the way up here in the mountains. There's got to be someone closer to you who knows this business,'" Shields told AOL.com back in April. "Six to eight months later he sent me a contract that somebody wanted him to sign and then I took over. It was terrible. I had to [delete] the whole thing and write a new one."

    • CerronepresserDonald "Cowboy" Cerrone is as hot as a pistol right now. After his quick win over Charles Oliveira two weeks ago at UFC on Versus 5, he told Joe Silva he's waiting for the phone call. Even if there was opening for UFC 135 just six weeks, he'd take the fight.

"I want the Denver card coming up very soon. Hopefully nobody get hurt, but then I hope somebody gets hurt," joked Cerrone. "I told [UFC matchmaker] Joe [Silva], I'm the guy to call. I'll fight anybody, anywhere. I have to back that up."

Well, it won't be that soon, but Cerrone is now booked to take on Denis Siver in late October.

      Siver's original opponent Sam Stout had to back out of the fight. There's no official word on the reason, but it makes sense to think that Stout is out because of the recent passing of his brother-in-law and trainer Shawn Tompkins.{ysp:more}

Tompkins passed away on Aug. 14. He died in his sleep from a heart attack. The 37-year-old, who worked out of Las Vegas and Canada, was laid to rest on Aug. 19.

    • duffeeduaneDuane Ludwig is going into surgery today to repair a compressed disc in his neck, but healing up from his win over Amir Sadollah at UFC on Versus 5 is not his only project. Ludwig also wants the Nevada Athletic Commission to correct the time of his knockout of Jonathan Goulet, which would give Ludwig the fastest KO in MMA.

To reach that goal, Ludwig has enlisted the help of his fans and other fighters. Via Twitter, he has asked fans to "like" his Facebook petition, and send emails to the commission. Todd Duffee, the current record holder with a KO of Tim Hague in seven seconds, even supports Ludwig, as shown in their picture together. Ludwig claims that the knockout happened in four seconds.

In 2006, Ludwig knocked Goulet out almost immediately from the bell, but the official timer recorded the time as 11 seconds. UFC commentator Joe Rogan picked up Ludwig's cause at the time, and still stumps for a time change every time he interviews Ludwig after a fight.

      Ludwig isn't just relying

    • 087rodrigonogueiravsbrendanschaubIn most post-fight press conferences, UFC president Dana White compliments the crowd and the city that they've just visited. It's a smart business move to lavish praise on every city the UFC visits, whether they have packed the place or not. Even if the UFC never returns, White does want that city's inhabitants to continue watching fights.

But when he called the crowd in Rio de Janeiro the best crowd he's ever been around, it was not empty rhetoric. Even through my television, it was clear that the fans in Brazil would make UFC 134 unlike any event the UFC has ever produced.

It started with the very first fight. Usually, the preliminary fights take place in a half-filled stadium, with only the fighters' loved ones truly invested in the bout. There were no Brazilians in the opening bout, but the crowd still went nuts for Ian Loveland vs. Yves Jabouin. They even chanted the name of a popular soccer player who happened to be black, like Jabouin.

The chanting never stopped. Yahoo! Sports
