Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira wants Frank Mir next

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira wants Frank Mir next

After losing his last two fights, and five out of his last eight (going back to 2008) via some type of violent stoppage, it is clearly time for all-time heavyweight great Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira to retire. UFC president Dana White has even suggested as much.

Despite this, Nogueira has said he wants to fight twice more before hanging up his gloves for good. That's scary enough for fans of the submission wizard who are concerned about his long-term health.

Now, Nogueira has specified who he'd like to fight next - Frank Mir. Mir is another former UFC champion who has fallen on hard times inside the cage (Mir has lost his last four straight). However, Mir already has two nasty stoppage wins over Nogueira.

Nogueira says he still can't swallow his last loss to Mir - where "Minotauro" jumped all over the American early on, but then fell victim to a shoulder lock. "I'm 'choking' about his last win," Nog told Globo recently.

"I want to fight against him again, for sure, face him and impose my pace. I want this bout for 2015, this is my plan."

It may make sense for Nogueira to want to fight Mir, in his own head, but Mir isn't even sure he wants to continue fighting, or if he'd have anything to gain by fighting the Brazilian for a third time. "I will give him the opportunity, but I have to be sure that I will have something to gain from it,"Mir said.

"since I won two fights and he won none. As long as there is something for me to take out of this situation, I would like to fight him again. No problem. I do not know, maybe wait, Nogueira. I'm just taking vacation now."
