Abel Trujillo won a thriller at UFC 169 (UFC)

At the risk of jumping the gun a bit, UFC 169's first main card bout may already be a lock for both fight of the night and knockout of the night. Lightweights Jamie Varner and Abel Trujillo squared up to open the pay per view card Saturday night in New Jersey and, in less than two rounds, lit the Newark Prudential Center on fire with a slug fest.

From the start, both fighters swung for the fences with punches. Trujillo used looping hooks as Varner's punches were a bit more crisp and he also utilized good head and foot movement to get the better of the exchanges.

Still, Trujillo seemed game and, though he began to eat more and more shots, never stopped throwing bombs of his own. Mid-way through the second round, Varner appeared to be closing in on victory as he landed a huge left hook flush to Trujillo's jaw as well as a short right hook.

The "Blackzilian" team member was rocked but had one last punch in him. Not a second after being tagged himself, Trujillo blasted Varner with an overhand right that knocked the former WEC champion out on contact.

Varner fell face-first onto the mat in a heap and Trujillo secured his second straight win. With the loss, Varner has now dropped three out of his last four.
