In a game that included two outfielders prone to making highlight-worthy catches — we're talking about Jason Heyward of the Atlanta Braves and Ben Revere of the Philadelphia Phillies — perhaps the best catch Monday night came from a young fan in the crowd.
Revere did make a nice catch, but that's old hat to him by now. Instead, we prefer this young Braves fan reaching (and reaching and reaching and reaching) over the seat rail in center field to grab Ryan Howard's home-run ball.
He reached out his glove as far as he could, keeping his weight down so he didn't tumble over the railing and then he made a wonderful grab. He whipped up his glove to make sure he had the ball, like a big leaguer who went over the wall trying to rob a homer.
Look at that excitement when he realizes he had the ball. He sure was proud of himself. And deservedly so. That was a heckuva grab.
