Quick! Cue the "Dirty Water," send Sully out on a Dunkin' Donuts run and give your best BLS welcome to Scott Thompson.

Also: Look busy!

If you haven't heard the news yet, Scott is the new big boss around these parts after being hired as the new CEO of Yahoo! While we don't usually comment on staff transactions, we couldn't resist after learning that the former PayPal president is a big Boston Red Sox fan.

So much so that he used baseball as a prime example when talking about the future outlook of our proud company with tech-writing titan Kara Swisher.

From AllThingsD:

Thompson's premise is based on his belief that we are still in the early days of the Internet. And, because he is a Boston native — making him, of course, an ardent fan of its beloved Red Sox — he used baseball as a metaphor.

"It's early innings, and there are the next eight innings in front of [Yahoo!]," he said, noting that he was in the stands with his father when catcher Carlton Fisk hit that famous game-winning home run in the 12th inning of the sixth game of the World Series in 1975.

We're glad that Scott didn't use the Fisk homer as a template for his plans, given that the glory of Game 6 quickly gave way to a disappointing loss in Game 7. We prefer that he take a Dave Roberts-type lead, executing a quick steal of second in the ninth inning of Game 4 of the 2004 ALCS before romping to eight straight wins and a World Series title.

At any rate, welcome aboard Scott! If you're looking to take a break from your busy gig to talk a little Red Sox and the AL East, you know where to find us.
