Watch Phillies prospect Roman Quinn fly around the bases during inside-the-park home run

Big League Stew

I just stood up from my desk, walked through my hallway, down the stairs, then went back up the stairs and back to my desk. At a casual, everyday pace, it took me 29.3 seconds. Just a little perspective for this: Roman Quinn, a Single-A prospect for the Philadelphia Phillies, hit an inside-the-park home run Tuesday, in which he zoomed around the bases in 14.03 seconds, according to Tater Trot Tracker. You'll notice the ball hadn't even gotten back to the infield by the time Quinn crossed the plate.

Last season, speedy Cincinnati Reds prospect Billy Hamilton went inside-the-park in 13.8 seconds, so Quinn's not quite Hamilton-esque, but not far off either. We haven't seen an inside-the-parker yet in the big leagues yet this year, but the quickest last season was Peter Bourjos at 14.26 seconds, again, according to Tater Trot Tracker.

Quinn, 20, is a shortshop for the Lakewood BlueClaws who barely made Baseball America's Top 100 prospect list this year. He was No. 100. A few more like this and he may be climbing the list — fast.
