Truth is, Vin Scully could read the dictionary and baseball fans would love it. So if there's anybody who can make a story about a bird pooping on someone's head ridiculously charming, it's the 86-year-old legendary Dodgers announcer.
It was St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Matheny who got pooped on, years and years ago when he was in college. And it actually affected his decision to stay in college rather than jumping early to a pro baseball career. Scully spins the yarn with his usual eloquence, even calling the game in between. And there's a "happily ever after" moment in there we won't spoil for you. Gotta respect the storytelling.
Luckily, sensitive Cardinals fans didn't throw a fit about Scully's story like you might have feared. (Or if they have @BestFansStLouis hasn't dug 'em up yet). Cards fans sometimes get offended by entertaining things, you know. It's yet another example — everybody loves Vin Scully.
