A new Hall of Fame ballot brings with it plenty of arguments, crusades and all-day Twitter fights about Jack Morris' stats. So that's why it's a welcome relief when a little bit of humor is added to the Hall of Fame discussions.

So, thank you, Todd Jones, ex-MLB relief pitcher, on the ballot for the first (and probably only) time. Jones isn't a Hall of Famer by anyone's calculations — though he did have 319 saves in a 15-year career — not even his own.

Jones released a statement Wednesday, relayed by ESPN's Jayson Stark, making fun of his own HoF candidacy:

We appreciate Todd Jones being in touch with reality. Almost as much as we still appreciate that old mustache of his. It's probably not destined for the Facial Hair Hall of Fame, but that's OK, we like it just the same.
