Editor's note: Our MLB Toasts got derailed during the stretch run and postseason, but we're back to say goodbye to the rest of the league. Follow @BigLeagueStew on Twitter and await our call for submissions for more toasts. Next up, the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Congrats, Pittsburgh Pirates, you weren't a punchline this year. In fact, you were the feel-good team of the 2013 season, the team that a lot of people were pulling for once their team was out of it. A big ol' cheers to you, Pittsburgh. You deserve it this year.
A toast to the Pittsburgh Pirates for having both the MVP and Manager of the Year this season. To the Pirates, for making the playoffs for the first time since 1992. To the Pirates for having one of the coolest players in the league and for having fans wild enough to do this and this. Oh, and this.
To the Pirates, for their A.J. Burnett T-shirt giveaway, perhaps the best freebie in baseball this year. And to the Pirates, for being a part of maybe the best gag of the season. To the Pirates, for winning over fans old ... and young.
We're not going to bogart this toast. Here's what a couple of people had to say about the 2013 Pirates. Add your own toast in the comments.
