Baseball teams often dream up "ripped from the headlines" promotions — like last year's Manti T'eo girlfriend night or the Marco Rubio water bottle night. Poking fun comes with the turf in the minor leagues and independent ball. Anything to get people to the games, right?

The Charlotte Stone Crabs, Single-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, were quick to announce a promotion centered around Heisman-winning quarterback Jameis Winston from Florida State and his latest scandal — he was caught stealing $32 worth of crab legs, cited and suspended from the Florida State baseball team, where he's a relief pitcher.

A crab is the Charlotte team's mascot, so it pretty much had to join the Photoshoppers of the world in mocking Winston.

The Stone Crabs' promo is happening Thursday. Seriously, they wasted no time. It's a play, obviously, off "Law & Order," and here's their explainer full of L&O shtick:

In the criminal justice system, crab based offenses are considered especially heinous. In Port Charlotte, the dedicated ballclub who investigate these vicious felonies are members of an elite squad known as the Missing Legs Unit. These are their stories.

He fought the claw, but the claw won. $1 from every additional ticket sold to the Thursday, May 1st game will be donated to one of Publix's charities of choice. We will also be accepting donations at the game. This promotion has legs! Gates open at 5:30pm.

This promotion has legs! Oh, they went there. It's amusing that they're donating money to a charity of choice for Publix, that's the market where Winston was caught redhanded.

Nothing says whether the team is running a special on crag legs at the concession stands. If not, The Stew will be saddened.
