A ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of the Baseball Hall of Fame will be held Thursday morning, June 12, 2014, on the front steps of the museum, with Hall of Famers Cal Ripken Jr. and Joe Morgan taking part. It's 789 miles to Cooperstown, we got a full tank of gas, a warehouse-sized allotment of Cracker Jack, it's dark and we're wearing flip-up sunglasses.

Hit it.

Big League Stew is hitting the road this weekend as yours truly is headed east from Chicago to the Baseball Hall of Fame for the induction of Tom Glavine, Greg Maddux, Bobby Cox, Frank Thomas, Tony La Russa and Joe Torre. I'll be tracking the entire trip with tweets, photos and observations below. If you'd like to follow along a little closer, follow me on Twitter (#BLSHOF) or on Facebook

Waiting for the next update? Check out my Tumblr essay on the reason for this trip — a July 1994 date with Frank Thomas and Ken Griffey Jr. on the South Side of Chicago.
