Think you can hit a home run at Petco Park? Grab a bat, head down to the San Diego Padres home ballpark on Saturday, March 15 and give it your best shot. After all, you have nothing to lose, but if you manage to succeed, you'll win two season tickets for the 2014 season in the upper infield section.

It's all part of a new promotion the Padres are running this spring called "Swing for your Seats." Fans ages 16 and up are eligible to sign up for the event. Then, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on March 15, the park will be open and the participants will be given one swing to hit a home run at what is widely considered the most pitcher friendly ballpark in the National League.

That's it. One swing. And participants are only allowed to see two pitches total. In other words, get loose — strained obliques are no fun at all — lock in, and come up swinging for the fences, because anything other than a home run sends you home empty-handed.

It's definitely a creative promotion that we anticipate will draw a huge response. Just the thrill of taking a cut in a major league park will make the trip worthwhile for most fans. Of course, it's also an almost impossible task, especially when you note this little tidbit in the contest's fine print.

• Participants who played Division I collegiate or professional baseball (whether major, minor or independent league) are not eligible for the Prize.

Amateurs only. Winners unlikely. But you can't win if you don't take a swing, so why not? They are two prime seats with your name on it and a future story on Big League Stew just waiting to be written.
