Mike Redmond prepares for spring training on the ski slopes

Miami Marlins manager Mike Redmond looked like he was preparing more for the Winter Olympics than the upcoming baseball season on Tuesday. Check out this wild photo he posted on Twitter.

We assume that’s Redmond catching some serious air on the ski slopes, though it’s possible he brought in a stunt double for the shot. Either way, we know he's not in Miami. And whoever that really is, that's a pretty impressive feat and some good camera work as well to capture the action shot.

We also appreciate the message, because nothing gets us more fired up for pitchers and catchers reporting than looking at snow.

Isn't that right, Atlanta?

Actually, we don't blame Redmond for hitting the slopes this close to the season. After finishing 62-100 in his rookie season as Marlins manager, the team almost has to be improved heading into 2014, though probably not enough to make any serious strides in the NL East standings. A Redmond-style leap over the New York Mets wouldn't be surprising, but it's likely to be another long season of learning on the job.

In other words, he might as well squeeze in as much fun as he can now before the snow melts and the inevitable stress mounts.
