Max Scherzer’s life-sized bobblehead may give you nightmares

Fans arriving for opening day festivities at Comercia Park were greeted by several life-sized bobblehead statues featuring current, in-season professional athletes representing Detroit.

It's all a part of Fox Sports Detroit's seventh annual “April in the D” marketing campaign, which this year includes Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard and center Pavel Datsyuk, along with Andre Drummond and Josh Smith of the Detroit Pistons, and of course, the Tigers are represented as well with giant statues of Torii Hunter and this beauty of Max Scherzer.

Despite the remarkable attention to detail on these statues, you might recall last season's campaign featured a Justin Verlander statue that resembled teammate Alex Avila far more. No such confusion will exist with Scherzer's statue. They included every detail, right on down to his heterochromia iridum, the condition which gives each of his eyes a different color.

The condition itself is not scary. In fact, it's fairly common, and the visual is pretty cool on a human being. However, when included on the smiling over-sized head of a bobblehead statue greeting people at the ballpark, it gives off a little different vibe.

Honestly, it's terrifying. Hide the women and children!

Following opening day the statues will be moved to other strategic locations around Detroit. Scherzer's, in particular, will be relocated to the lobby of the GM Renaissance Center. If you have any business to attend to there, do it now!
