James Gandolfini reciting Lou Gehrig’s farewell speech at Yankee Stadium in 2002 (Video)

When you think of James Gandolfini — the "Sopranos" star who died on Wednesday — you probably don't immediately think baseball. But he does have a connection to the New York Yankees that's chilling. In 2002, as part of a league-wide tribute to Lou Gehrig's famous farewell speech, Gandolfini recited Gehrig's speech in a ceremony at Yankee Stadium.

Hearing Gandolfini utter the famous line, "Today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth" is kind of eerie, since his death is still so fresh in our minds.

Even more eerie? Gandolfini died on what would have been Gehrig's 110th birthday.

Baseball season's in full swing. Don't miss a thing.
