High School slugger David Denson mashes 515-foot homer at Marlins Park in Miami (Video)

As expected, Marlins Park in Miami and its spacious dimensions proved to be very friendly for pitchers as it only surrendered 113 home runs in its inaugural season — the third fewest by any park in 2012.

Of course that didn't stop the strongest man in the baseball world, Giancarlo Stanton, from putting a few dents in the home run sculpture and forcing owner Jeffrey Loria to call an electrician as the season wore along. But even with his immense power, and a major league pitcher supplying even more power, Stanton couldn't duplicate what Covina, CA high school slugger and University of Hawaii baseball commit David Denson did during a recent Power Showcase event at the new park.

Denson, a left-handed hitting first baseman who stands around 6 foot 3 and looks to be a solid 250 lbs, put on an incredible display en route to hitting nine total home runs in the seventh annual event. Three of those home runs traveled over 500 feet as estimated by the officials in attendance, with the longest (video above) coming in at a Power Showcase record 515 feet. That was more than enough to beat out Bryce Harper's 502-foot blast in 2009, which had previously owned the record.

Those numbers, of course, were good enough for Denson to be crowned champion of the home run derby style hitting competition. And as I mentioned earlier, not only did Denson's exhibition blast(s) dwarf any homer Stanton hit at his home ballpark, it also surpassed his 494-foot home run at Coors Field, which is recognized by ESPN's Home Run Tracker as the longest hit in 2012.

Yes, Denson was using an aluminum bat, which he won't be able to use once he becomes a pro. But bottom line, Denson's power is ridiculous for a kid his age, and just in case you didn't fully appreciate his power in the first video, you can take another look at it from another angle by clicking here.

Ridiculous.
