If the Los Angeles Dodgers are going to survive to see a Game 7 in their NLCS series against the St. Louis Cardinals, they're going to have to do it without Hanley Ramirez in the starting lineup.

The L.A. lineup for Friday night's Game 6 has Nick Punto batting eighth and playing shortstop with Ramirez on the bench. He's been playing with a fractured rib since Game 1, after being hit by a Joe Kelly pitch. Ramirez missed Game 2 completely. He started in Game 3 and was 2-for-4 with an RBI. He started Games 4 and 5, but left both of them early.

Ramirez has proven himself invaluable to the Dodgers, despite an oft-injured season. When Ramirez starts, the Dodgers are 56-29. They're 41-45 when he doesn't.

Game 6 now looks mighty familiar for the Dodgers. Clayton Kershaw starts for L.A., which he did in Game 2. Adrian Gonzalez moves up to third in the lineup with Yasiel Puig hitting fourth, both of which happened in Game 2 when Ramirez was out. The Dodgers lost that game 1-0.
