It’s up and it’s good! Ozzie vents frustration on innocent facemask

Hey, is that one of the lost Gramatica brothers?

Nope, that's just Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen getting his placekick on with Geovany Soto's facemask during Monday's 6-3 loss to the crosstown Chicago Cubs. Guillen had just been tossed from the game by umpire James Hoye for arguing that Alexei Ramirez's short chop had rolled foul before he was tagged out by Soto.

Watch Ozzie get ousted and his ensuing kick

Ozzie certainly had a point — even Cubs broadcaster Bob Brenly agreed the ball looked foul — but Hoye didn't appreciate the South Side skipper taking issue with his call.

Guillen did get a little luckier with Soto, who grinned and laughed as his equipment took flight. Meanwhile, White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko called Soto's "u mad, bro?" reaction "priceless" and Guillen later said he was thankful today's facemasks are lighter than they used to be,  because otherwise he may have been hurt.

Despite Hoye's seemingly incorrect call, Guillen left his temper on the diamond at U.S. Cellular Field, a decision that was made by his pocketbook instead of his heart.

From the Chicago Tribune:  {YSP:MORE}

"He (Hoye) was right, I was wrong," Guillen said while rolling his eyes. "Because if I say what I want to say, it's another 20 grand (in fines). I'm just going to leave it that way. He was right. I was wrong. I got kicked out of the game. I'm tired of paying people's money for no reason ... You just get frustrated and that play, I got it right in front of me, and that's why I went out and argued about it. I'm not going to argue unless I'm right."

Had Guillen made the choice to underwrite his conviction with a postgame tirade, we certainly couldn't have blamed him. The 35-39 White Sox are playing middling baseball as they continue to try and dig out of their early season hole and make a push at first place in the AL Central. The team is 9-8 in June and the only consistent things Guillen can count on are Paul Konerko playing MVP-type baseball and Adam Dunn posting a performance the complete opposite of that.

As such, Oz's mood has been all over the board in June, as this collage culled exclusively from June 1 onward shows. It's exhausting just to look at, really.

Eh, perhaps he just needs a hug from someone who can relate.
