The San Francisco Giants and Seattle Mariners spent Friday afternoon trading barbs on Twitter. It started when the Giants posted a picture of 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick throwing out the first pitch at a Giants gamer last season.
The Seahawks countered by showing their quarterback Russell Wilson doing the first-pitch thing too — both of them, along with another final-four quarterback, Tom Brady of the Patriots, have baseball in their background. By the end, the two MLB teams had made at bet involving their mascots.
The bar for baseball team Twitter-rivalries was set pretty high recently during the ongoing feud between the Sacramento River Cats and the Reno Aces, two Triple-A teams in the Pacific Coast League. And the Giants-Mariners duel isn't dethroning them as of yet.
Another pair of PCL teams — the Triple-A affiliates of the Giants and Mariners — had already been talking trash earlier in the week about the Niners/Seahawks game too. The SF/Seattle rivalry is getting so serious that even the folks in Fresno and Tacoma are getting in the middle of it.
And they kept going, but you get the gist.
Yep, a lot of people are jumping into the San Francisco vs. Seattle fray. Even Macklemore is getting involved. Things are getting heated. We feel sorry for Seattle-area native/Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum. He can't be in a good place right now.
