Most weekday evenings, Big League Stew looks at five approaching games worth monitoring. As they occur, feel free to discuss the night's happenings with other Stewies in the comment section below.

Dodgers at Angels, 10:05 ET The whole Valley will be talking about this intercounty rumble, and one thing's for sure: an Italian manager will lose.

Which side will better stand up to aggression? Hopefully, neither side violates league rules and the winning side achieves on its own merit.

Saturday's game, which features Brothers Weaver — the Angels' Jered vs. the Dodgers' Jeff — promises to be even more radical.

OK, what other games do we got?

Orioles at Phillies, underway The Fightins are 13-19 at home, in case you missed the statistical split that's all the rage in Philly.

"I'm tired of hearing about it. I'm done talking about losing at home," Ryan Howard(notes) said.

Um, OK. Not only does the Balto-Philly match-up always remind me of the 1983 World Series the White Sox were supposed to be in, it also reminds me of the USFL. Both cities shared the "Stars" franchise, which won the USFL crown in 1984 in Philly and '85 in Baltimore. Then the USFL up and died. Trumped, if you will, by the NFL.

Yankees at Marlins, underway Joe Girardi, citing "fatigue," is benching Miami native Alex Rodriguez today and Saturday.

A-Rod is batting .145 this month and is batting .212 with nine homers and 26 RBIs. He, Girardi and general Brian Cashman had a meeting

Rodriguez had reserved 100 tickets for friends and family, including his mom.

"Have to tell her to save the gas money," Rodriguez said. "She's going to be disappointed."

Cardinals at Royals, 8:10 ET Jorge Orta was out, Denkinger, he was out! Signed, Todd Worrell.

Athletics at Padres, 10:05 ET Please wear throwback uniforms, oh please, oh please.
