CC Sabathia is the latest athlete to join Jay-Z Roc Nation sports agency

With Robinson Cano now growing out his beard in the land of Starbucks, Jay-Z needed a new Yankee for his Roc Nation camp. The famous rapper turned sports agent who once claimed to make the Yankee cap more than famous than a Yankee can, found one in pitcher CC Sabathia.

From the land of tweets:

Hov's Roc Nation client list also includes NFL New Yorkers Geno Smith and Victor Cruz, as well as NBA star Kevin Durant and WNBAer Skylar Diggins. Helping get Robinson Cano $240 million over 10 years with the Seattle Mariners was Roc Nation's first big deal.

Sabathia doesn't have a big payday like that coming. He's in the middle of a five-year, $122 million contract through 2016 with a vesting option for 2017. That was negotiated with his previous agents, Greg Genske and Brian Peters of The Legacy Agency.

Sabathia, 33, had a rough year in 2013, posting a 4.78 ERA and a 14-13 record. He's on the downward slope in his career overall, but will still make $23 million each of the next two years and $25 million in 2016.

If CC doesn't rebound strong in 2014, there will probably be some Yankees fans wishing Jay-Z would send Sabathia and his huge salary to Seattle too.
