Having been awarded Cody Ross(notes) via the waiver wire in an apparent attempt to block an opponent from getting him, the San Francisco Giants now have a problem with their roster.
They might have one or two too many outfielders.
After all, Pat Burrell(notes), Jose Guillen(notes), Aubrey Huff(notes), Aaron Rowand(notes), Andres Torres(notes), Nate Schierholtz(notes) and Ross can't all get frequent playing time, can they?
Yes, they can! Well, at least if MLB approves our proposed defensive alignment for Giants manager Bruce Bochy, which we've taken the liberty of illustrating above. Bochy might have a few kinks to work out, but this seems to be the best way to challenge the San Diego Padres for first place in the National League West.
Meanwhile, Giants' GM Brian Sabean might be on the move again. Johnny Damon(notes) has been claimed by an "unknown team." Oh, we know who claimed him, all right.
Update: The Red Sox claimed Damon, thus ruining Sabean's afternoon.
