The World Series is a dicey time for shakeups, but Burrell isn't giving Bochy much of a choice. He struck out four times in Game 3 and is 6 for 38 with 19 strikeouts and a .605 OPS in the playoffs.
"If somebody is not quite seeing the ball as well, we give them a break and just put somebody else out there," [Bochy said.] "We've gotten contributions from everybody and that's what we're doing with Pat. [...]
"Give Pat a chance to work on some things and to get [his] timing back. I expect to see him tomorrow out there."
The changes give the Giants quite a "National League" look.
Schierholtz, though he's regarded as the Giants best defensive outfielder, has not started since Sept. 15. He's not much of a hitter: .242/.311/.366 in 252 plate appearances in the regular season. He's 2 for 8 in the playoffs.
Ishikawa hasn't been in the starting lineup since Aug. 15. His offense (.266./.320/.392) is a little better than Schierholtz's. But neither is playing because of their bats.
"Schierholtz and Ishy are usually in there at the end of the game, so we're starting it that way," [Bochy said.]
