Brothers Justin and B.J. Upton hit back-to-back homers — hasn’t been done in 75 years

It had been 75 years since brothers hit back-to-back home runs in a Major League Baseball game. We had to know that as long as Fredi Gonzalez's lineup card cooperated it would eventually happen this year, now that B.J. and Justin Upton are joined together in the Atlanta Braves outfield.

Tuesday night, in the Braves' 10-2 win over the Colorado Rockies, we got to see the Upton-Upton tater tandem. In the fifth inning B.J. hit a solo home run, his third of the season, and Justin followed with his 11th. Lloyd and Paul Waner were the last to accomplish the feat in Sept. 15, 1938 for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Here are the Upton clips, of course, back-to-back.

The Uptons have now hit home runs in the same game three times this season, including the game where they hit the game-tying and walk-off homers in the same inning. That brings us to the next item on the Upton milestone watch-list: B.J. and Justin can tie Jason and Jeremy Giambi and Vladimir and Wilton Guerrero when they homer again in the same game.

Doing it a fifth time this season — and let's be real, the odds are good that'll happen — will be an MLB first.

Baseball is back. Don't miss anything.
