They aren’t Devo: Giancarlo Stanton, Evan Longoria, Brandon Phillips, Justin Upton and Shane Victorino

ESPN the Magazine is good for some things, such as their "Music Issue," in which they re-create famous album covers of yesterday using sports stars of today. How they came up with Devo's "Freedom of Choice," and thought that Giancarlo Stanton, Evan Longoria, Brandon Phillips, Justin Upton and Shane Victorino would be perfect for it, who knows? Stanton, Upton and Longoria — maybe — could be considered among the "New Wave" of Major League Baseball star. Phillips and Victorino are both over 30.

And yet, they are perfect for it, kind of. Their faces, anyway. Victorino, especially. And re-imagining Mark Mothersbaugh as Phillips is inspired. The entire photo shoot is cool and should be checked out. (I picked this photo in part because I have that chair! So does Passan! Great chair.)

Now, what happens when the boys play (music) and sing, we probably don't want to know. Maybe it sounds like some of the early work of Autobahn.
