They say there's no "I" in team, and now there is no more "I" in Big Mac, either — at least not after Albert Pujols(notes) crushed a home run (VIDEO) off one of Busch Stadium's more recognizable signs, terminating some of its lights in the process.
The blast, which came off vulnerable Cubs' pitcher Sean Marshall(notes), was AhPu's 14th of the season and gave the Cards a first-inning lead. St. Louis went on to win, 3-1, sweeping the Cubs in the three-game series and moving two games ahead of them in the NL Central standings.
Cubs announcers Len Kasper and Bob Brenly first wondered if the "I" turned itself off just before contact, but the photographic sequence above shows it was Prince Albert's blast who turned out the lights by slaying the sign.
Albert recently appeared in a commercial where, as he made copies, a couple of office goofs wondered if he were a machine, a robot. AhPu considered terminating them, as we saw through "his" perspective, but thought better of it.
Still, you have to wonder if Pujols' super robotic powers helped him aim for the sign.
I mean, a home run is a home run, but a home run that breaks something?
So much cooler.
