Teuvo Teravainen sets up impressive goal at Lake Placid tournament

While much of our focus has been on Team Canada's roster for the upcoming Ivan Hlinka and Canada-Russia series', the Americans have been holding their own U-20 evaluation camp in Lake Placid. They'll be playing a mini-tournament against teams from Finland and Sweden and split "White" and "Blue" squads for the Americans.

The tournament opened last night between Finland and Sweden. Recent Chicago Blackhawks No. 18 select Teuvo Teräväinen set up teammate Jusso Ikonen for a terrific goal. Fast forward to 2:11 for the highlight:

Teravaïnen is knocked down by Jeremy Boyce Rotevall wearing #11 for Sweden, but manages to control the puck with his stick and kicks the puck forward to his blade for a pass across to Ikonen. Ikonen is a 95-born draft eligible player who missed on a penalty shot earlier in the game, but won't have many more easy opportunities than that.

In net for Sweden, by the way, is Oscar Dansk, the Erie Otters future goaltender who was once rumoured to be courted by the London Knights to replace Michael Houser. Olli Määtä of the Knights and Victor Rask of the Calgary Hitmen are also playing for Finland and Sweden respectively.

Several Americans also have CHL ties in the camp, notably recent first round picks Alex Galchenyuk and Henrik Samuelsson, but also a pair of defectors in Connor Carrick and Tyler Biggs. Draft-eligible Seth Jones is also present.
