Welsh teen scores Wayne Rooney-esque wonder goal in Youth Cup semifinal

Perhaps Wayne Rooney spends his off hours watching wonder goals on YouTube. After all, two days before the Manchester United star converted his 58-yard strike against West Ham in English Premier League action, a Welsh teen pulled off a similar volley in the Football Association of Wales Youth Cup.

Off one bounce following a throw-in, Josh Sheehan lobbed a 45-yard goal over rival Cardiff City's goalkeeper that gave Swansea City Academy the lead for good in an eventual 3-1 semifinal win.

"It just came to me from the throw-in, and I could see the goalkeeper was off his line, so I hit it," Sheehan told "I caught it sweetly, and it was probably the best goal I've ever scored."

Sweetly, indeed. Sheehan's tally gave his team a 2-1 lead in the 64th minute. The under-19 squad for Wales' first Premier League team in 20 years has won the FAW Youth Cup each of the previous four years, so don't be surprised if the 18-year-old midfielder gets the chance to play opposite Rooney one day.

For now, Sheehan is just enjoying the fact his greatest goal coincided with one of the Brit's best.
