A Florida man is under investigation by the Department of Children and Families after video of him shoving his 6-year-old son off the top of a skateboarding ramp picked up steam on social media.

According to First Coast News, bystander Ryan Stephens, 13, posted the video from Jacksonville's Kona State Park on his Instagram account with the caption: "Can't believe this dad pushed this little kid down big brown because he didn't drop in #peoplethesedays." The DCF is reportedly investigating the video, which appears to show a father kicking his son down the ramp with no regard for his safety.

First Coast News identified the man as Marcus Crossland. His son, nicknamed Dino the Dinosaur, is reportedly considered a local skateboarding prodigy, and the two are regulars at Kona State Park. The boy was not hurt and continued to skate afterwards, park owner Martin Ramos told WTEV-TV.

"He said he was just caught up in the moment," Ramos, who asked Crossland not to return to the park "for a while," told First Coast News. "He seemed very remorseful. He certainly understands the gravity of the situation, and it seems like he is going to be answering to this thing for quite some time to come."

Indeed, Crossland came under heavy fire on social media. Likewise, Stephens told First Coast News that he confronted Crossland immediately following the incident and asked him why he did it.

"He said, 'Because he needs to learn,'" Stephens relayed. "I was like, 'Pushing him down is not teaching him how to drop in.' And then he said, 'Do you think you can raise him better than me?' And I said, 'Yes.'"
