Troy Flutie may still be playing in the shadow of his uncle at Natick (Mass.) High, but he’s already reached one milestone Doug Flutie never got near: the Massachusetts career passing touchdown mark.

As reported by the Needham Times and Boston Herald, among other outlets, Troy Flutie passed the previous state career high school passing touchdown mark of 103 in the first quarter of Natick’s 28-14 victory against Needham High. Flutie entered the game with 102 touchdown passes and finished with 105 after connecting with fellow senior Alex Hilger for three scores, two in the opening quarter.

"I was seeing the defense well," Flutie told the Needham Times. "We were all getting a good feel for what they were doing. Kind of sitting back in the beginning so we were taking the underneath stuff. … It was a fun game."

Flutie finished with 201 yards, completing 16-of-21 passes for three touchdowns and an interception, helping Natick improve to 9-1 heading into its annual Thanksgiving Day matchup against rival Framingham High (Framingham).

Regardless of the result of the Thanksgiving Day grudge match, Flutie’s high school legend seems secure as he looks toward the next chapter in his uncle's footsteps at Boston College.

"The record speaks for itself," Natick coach Mark Mortarelli told the Times. "His numbers speak for themselves. Those numbers say what a great player he is."
