Texas high school wide receiver recruit throws Hail Mary touchdown — to himself

In early April, Manvel (Texas) High junior wide receiver Gary Haynes told Rivals.com, "I'm really working on my speed right now. Like my straightline speed, like track speed. That's why I'm running track."

Less than a month later, Haynes' offseason work appears to be paying early dividends, as the unranked Class of 2015 recruit showed off his blazing speed by throwing a 50-yard pass to himself in a Vine post.

We all remember former Vikings quarterback Brad Johnson throwing a touchdown to himself against the Panthers in 1997, but that was a cakewalk compared to this ridiculous display of athleticism.

Haynes amassed team highs of 52 catches for 876 yards and 13 touchdowns this past fall, leading the Mavericks (12-2) to the Class 5A, Division II state quarterfinals. Clearly a jack of all trades, he also rushed for two scores, returned kicks and played cornerback for Manvel. Based on his performance in the embedded video, sophomore QB D'Eriq King might have some competition next season, too.

Haynes' only reported scholarship offer comes from the University of Houston, although he told Rivals his top choices are Texas Tech and Texas A&M. So, get those offers ready, Kliff Kingsbury and Kevin Sumlin.
