Texans cheerleader promises to attend prom with high school offensive lineman if he can get 10,000 retweets

Houston Texans cheerleader Caitlyn Beth promised to go to the Crosby (Texas) High prom with Michael Ramirez if he can amass 10,000 retweets. (Twitter)

Prom is a big deal in a high school senior's life, so it's important to find the perfect date. Fortunately for Crosby (Texas) High senior Michael Ramirez, he's a man who knows what he wants and goes after it.

The 5-foot-11, 255-pound offensive lineman took to social media in hopes of landing 20-year-old Houston Texans cheerleader Caitlyn Beth as his prom date. It worked. Beth promised to attend the dance with Ramirez if he could amass 10,000 retweets on Twitter (h/t Busted Coverage).

A little over 24 hours after he tweeted a picture of their direct message exchange with the request to his few hundred followers, "10,000 retweets and I'll be taking a Texans cheerleader to prom," he reached his goal. The Texans even got on board with his effort, and he's picked up plenty more followers on Twitter.

More importantly, though, he got the official word from Beth shortly after his 10,000th retweet.

From what we can gather, the whole thing happened serendipitously. On Thursday morning, Ramirez tweeted, "Got the asking prom idea, now I just need the right girl." By some divine power, Texans cheerleader Lesha Wincher began following Ramirez on the social media site, and soon afterwards Beth gave him a follow, too. Moments later, Ramirez announced his prom promise.

As far as we can tell, his previous credentials include a single pancake block this season and this bio: "If someone doesn't appreciate your presence make them appreciate your absence. Future comedian."

According to Beth's profile, she prefers sushi and snow cones to pancakes, but her favorite TV show is "Wilfred" and favorite movie is "Anchorman," so she's a fan of comedy. She also enjoys dubstep and electronic dance music, so Ramirez better start practicing those dance moves.

Hopefully, the DJ works in a slow jam or two, though.
