Oklahoma homeschooled sophomore scores 64 points in key hoops victory

Prep Rally

In the past, Allonzo Trier has earned headlines mostly for his age; he first burst on to the scene as a 13-year-old middle schooler. Now he’s earning plenty of attention for his own high school feats on the court.

As first reported by the Tulsa World, and also covered by MaxPreps, Trier scored an astounding 64 points in his NOAH (Northeast Oklahoma Association of Homeschools) team’s 88-85 victory against Bartlesville (Okla.) High. Trier finished 20-of-32 from the field, 7-of-15 from 3-point range and 17-of-18 from the free throw line. One of his threes even tied the game with just seven seconds left until the regulation buzzer.

According to the World, neither Trier nor his coach realized how many points he scored until after the game, when a coach came in and told both of them his totals.

"I told him I thought he had 45 or 50 points," NOAH boys coach Chris Wallace told the World. "One of the coaches came into the locker room after the game and said he had 64. I looked at [Trier] and he looked at me, and we were like `Wow!’ He was in a zone.

"Everything was coming so easily for him. He had [everything] working and that made it a little easier for him to be as efficient as he was."

Perhaps the one man who truly realized just how deadly Trier had been from the field was the coach of the team he had just beaten, Barlesville’s Tim Bart.

“One guy had a great game and beat us,” Bartlesville head coach Tim Bart said. “I’ve never (had a team score 85 points) and lost.” …

“We tried everything we knew how to do and we couldn't stop him," Bart said.
