Shelby (N.C.) High running back Brian Moss is known for being a tough runner who is difficult to bring down. If there was ever any question about his bona fides in being a hard tackle, he answered them during Friday's 37-23 Shelby victory against Forest City (N.C.) Chase High.
As you can see in the highlight above, Moss did more than just "elude" tackles on his 65-yard end zone gallop in the third quarter against the Chase defense, he pulled a complete Houdini act. After forcing his way through a one-arm tackle attempt, Moss found himself surrounded by a crew of four linebackers and charging defensive backs.
Not that being surrounded by four opponents was a problem after Moss had already been slowed by one attempted tackle. Instead, the Shelby rusher just kept churning his legs and squirming his way through all four defenders, eventually finding daylight while heading toward the right sideline.
Unfortunately for Moss, he wasn't completely in the clear yet. The running back still had to cut back to find another block and throw a couple feints to ensure that he was out of reach from the rest of the Chase defense, eventually dancing into the end zone for one of the more unlikely touchdown runs anyone will see during the 2011 season.
"A lot of people underestimate Bryan because of his size," Shelby defensive end Carlos Wray told the Shelby Star. "He's got willpower and heart. He's going to find a way to make another play for us."
On Friday, Moss showed just how much of that willpower and heart he has on that one notable play alone. Hopefully Shelby's future opponents were taking notes, because they'll need all the help they can get bringing Moss down once he gets his legs churning.
