This doesn't bode well for the future of Crownpoint (N.M.) High boys' basketball.
Hosting a Farmington (N.M.) Navajo Prep team that was down to just three players, the full-strength Crownpoint junior varsity squad coughed up a 59-55 lead in the final 90 seconds. Navajo Prep capped the comeback with a buzzer-beating 3-pointer that even whipped the road crowd into a frenzy (h/t Big Lead).
In the final 1:30, Crownpoint missed a wide-open layup and committed three turnovers that allowed Navajo Prep to cut the lead to two on a running jumper through four lackadaisical defenders and set up the game-winner -- a relatively uncontested triple from the same kid who hit the previous basket.
Probably a safe bet practice wasn't all that fun for the Crownpoint JV squad the following day.
